IPICO Sports Provides Event Results In Real Time

PEORIA, IL.—IPICO Sports provided real-time results for nearly 3,000 runners who participated in the 34th running of the Steamboat Classic in Peoria, Ill., on June 16.

The event features 4-mile and 15km courses that wind through the city of Peoria. For the 4-mile course, IPICO Sports provided times at the 2-mile, 5km and finish. In the longer race, participants received their splits at 5km, 10km and finish time. Times were instantly reported online at www.onlineraceresults.com.

Long-time race director Philip Lockwood was pleased with the overall system performance. “The Steamboat Classic has always been known as a very well organized event whose participants literally come from around the world for one weekend in June to run and socialize,” he said. “The IPICO Sports system captured all of the runners at each split point and then provided the results real time. This added great value to our participants and anyone who wanted to track their results.”

IPICO Sports CEO Mark Herbst also was pleased with the system performance in Peoria. “Our system previously established a new high water mark for data capture at the BolderBOULDER event, when over 45,000 runners were captured at each intermediate point,” he said. “In Peoria, we demonstrated our ability to transmit data real time to a common media such as a Web site.”

Herbst said the company’s recent successes are only the beginning. ”Over time, our investment in product development and partnerships with other leading edge technology providers will continue to set the bar higher when it comes to data capture and transmission from events and training activities in the world of active sports,” he said.
