IPICO Timer of the Month: Craig Wilson, Red Cap Timing
Craig Wilson wasn’t always a timer. In fact, he got his start in timing by simply volunteering. For almost 30 years, Craig was an environmental scientist for the state of California where he proposed water quality standards and managed the state’s water quality monitoring program. In 2004, when his son was on the high school track team, he volunteered to learn how the school’s timing equipment worked. His first two races were timed with FinishLynx. From there, he was hooked. Three years later he created Red Cap Timing, and he’s since created a web app called TimerHub. We recently talked to Craig about Red Cap Timing, his IPICO set up and how to communicate with race directors, coaches and spectators. Tell [ ... read more ]

While at Texas A&M University, Kirsten was on the cycling team and enjoyed the camaraderie that comes with endurance sports.  She looked forward to daily rides and weekends racing with her team, and bonding while strategizing how they would beat their big rivals. “I swim, I run, I used to be into triathlons, [ ... read more ]
Made for Mud Runs
Most timers would be concerned about read rates if their course looked like this -                         Why? Because mud and water do not mean ‘accurate results’ for most timing systems. However, if you use ACTIVE | IPICO mats and shoe tags, mud runs can still yield highly accurate race results.   Why ACTIVE | IPICO equipment is ideal for mud runs: Our dual-frequency technology Is unique to IPICO and we put a lot of R&D into its development and hold many patents Reads through mud, water and the human body and gives accurate read rates Produces 99.99 % accuracy in large-scale events [ ... read more ]
